Welcome to Peel Medical Venturers Website !!
Membership information to Peel MedVents
Peel MedVents is a unique program for youth ages 13 - 17 years old! An opportunity to develop leadership skills and confidence.
Peel MedRovers is a continuation of the MedVent program for youth ages 18 - 26 years old. MedRovers are involved as coaches and mentors to new recruits.
HOW: We work with Paramedic volunteers to learn First Aid Skills. Our training is hands-on scenario based, intense, and immediately debriefed step by step by Paramedics. It is the constant challenge of learning that keeps us motivated !
MEETINGS:Generally we meet every second Tuesday evening from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Next meeting is: Tuesday March 8th 2011
Meeting Place: Pauline Vanier Catholic School, 56 Oaklea Blvd, Brampton
SPECIALIZED TRAINING: We also attend specialized training events with other MedVent groups, such as Wilderness First Aid and Emergency First Responder; Search and Rescue; Ice Rescue ... the training is always being updated to meet our specialized first aid opportunities.
OUR SERVICES: We provide specialized First Aid services at Scouting events, such as Beaverees, Cuborees, Camporees, Jamborees ... and Gilwell Reunion.
Recent events have been: Brampton Camp Discovery; Igloo Camp 2007-2011; DIBC 2007-2011; CJ'07 (attendance at CJ'07 was 8,000 !!) ; and Gilwell Reunion Sept 2007, that had over 1,300 participants. Most recently we provided First Aid service for HIGHPOINT CAMP, SCOPE, a Canada/USA Scouting 5 day exchange camp in Philadelphia!
LEADERSHIP: Leadership is a key component to scene management and First Aid. With competent skills and unique opportunities, held together with support from highly trained adults - the Peel MedVents develop leadership skills that accelerate them in real life situations.
A further aspect of Leadership in the Peel MedVent Program is our specialized First Aider training that we have designed to deliver to other youth groups, such as Beavers, Cubs & Scouts.
Peel MedVents is a vocational-style program supported by Scouts Canada. All Peel MedVents are also registered members of Scouts Canada Our Advisors are also fully screened adult members of Scouts Canada. We follow all Scouts Canada policies and procedures regarding risk management and duty of care.

MedVent Accreditation
Peel MedVents program emphasizes on-going and progressive training re-enforced by constant practice opportunities.
Peel MedVent Certification Levels:
New Member: First Aid Training
Venturer BASIC Level: includes: WSIB, SAF, Basic Rescurer; Radio Operators Certificate; PAD (if available) Training and Service hours.
Venturer INTERMEDIATE Level: all above + Standards, Ethics & Responsiblity; WFA; VHF, Training and Service hours;
Venturer ADVANCED Level: all above + EFR, extensive Training and extensive Service hours;
There are also Basic, Intermediate & Advanced Levels for MedRovers.
